CELL PHONE ADDICTION
A cell phone is important as it gives
unlimited access to information and a mode of connecting with others but
obsessive use is harmful. The behavioral addiction is called ‘Nomophobia’ which
means ‘No mobile phone phobia’, that is, fear of having no cell phone.
Signs of phone addiction:
1. You wake up multiple times at night
to check your phone.
2. The first thing you do when you are
bored or alone is used your cell phone.
3. Feeling anxious or stressed when you
cannot use the cell phone.
4. You may trip or get injured while
using your phone.
5. It affects your performance at the
workplace, school, or in relationships.
6. Limiting the use of the phone is
difficult.
7. Thinking about the phone is buzzing
even when it is not.
Negative effects of cell phone addiction:
1. 1. Physical effects:

The strain on the eyes
as viewing digital screens for more than two hours can cause pain, discomfort
to the eyes. This can lead to burning, itchiness, blurry vision, and headache.

Neck pain resulting
from continuously looking down at cell phone.
·
Texting or talking on
the phone while driving or walking on the road can lead to accidents which can
cause serious injuries.

effects

Lack of sleep or
insomnia by using a cell phone before bed, the bright light decreases sleep as
it activates the brain.

Depression and anxiety.
·
Problems in handling
relationships because people spend more time on a cell phone than with their
partners.

Low concentration at
workplace or school.
Ways to reduce cell phone
addiction:
·
Turn off the
notifications.
·
Keep your phone in a
bag.
·
Delete the apps that
distract you the most.
·
Don’t charge the phone near
your bed.
·
Put your phone away
when you enter the home.
·
Turning off the phone
while going to bed.
·
Use a smartwatch
instead of a phone for checking time and other things.
